Alternate History: There really isn't much difference at all between this Robin and the one already in game, except that he's male. Because of this, his Chrom is married to Sumia (Robin himself is still single). Does it also count that since I plan to bring him in for the Fourth Wall event before officially apping him, he's been a Hero of Light with the other group of heroes for the past seven months leading up to that event?
Personality: When we are first introduced to Robin, he's an amnesiac who's only memories are his name, Chrom's name, his abilities in combat and as a Tactician and the memory of a single battle, fought alongside Chrom, that ended in him killing the man. Needless to say he started out pretty lost and confused, with little idea of his place in the world or what he was going to do with himself. Chrom giving him a new life as the Shepherds' tactician is one of the many reasons he values Chrom and his friendship so much and he threw himself wholeheartedly into that new role.

As a tactician, Robin has a knack for reading other people and can easily connect with a variety of different people from different walks of life. This, other than the out of universe justification that he's the avatar for the player, is the reason why he has the potential to support with every other member of the Shepherds. He's very intelligent and naturally gifted and his actual hobbies include reading anything he can get his hands on, so he's also naturally very curious about everything and always looking to expand his knowledge base, and not just because his amnesia has left him rather ignorant about a lot of things most people should already know about. Due to this, he is fairly knowledgeable about most things, but most of his knowledge is more theoretical than practical.

He's a fairly nice person, but he is capable of being a bit teasing at times, especially with people he's comfortable with, though never to the point of being out right mean about it. A good example of that being his support with Ricken, where he spent most of it good-naturedly teasing the younger boy while trying to help him think of something interesting to write home to his parents. He tends to be a pretty good listener too and often acted as a sounding board for the other Shepherds while they were trying to figure out their problems. Though he will also play devil's advocate if need be and isn't afraid to point out people's flaws when needed. If his friends or allies need help with anything, he's generally glad to do it, and even if he's a bit reluctant to help, he can be a bit of a pushover under most circumstances (especially if your name is Chrom) and will only put his foot down if he morally objects to whatever it is. Also, his general social skills aren't always the best, also due to his amnesia.

Something that a lot of people miss about Robin, though, is his self confidence issues. In general he's confident in his skills and he will talk a big game when need be, but when people try to give him compliments about how good he is, he will usually brush them off or become uncomfortable. This is, again, tied to his amnesia, because while he does know what he's doing when it comes to tactics and strategy, he doesn't remember how he got those skills or any of his past accomplishments before his amnesia so even after having won a war, or two for Yilsse he's still not sure he deserves all the praise he gets. In fact, he outright asks someone who knew him before he lost his memory during an optional chapter near the end of the game whether he's really fit to stand with Chrom and the Shepherds. This is after he's been with the Shepherds for over two years and won two wars for Yilsse. Then there's his gigantic guilt complex. He always blames himself whenever something goes wrong during a battle, and even though it's not really his fault in any way, shape or form and hasn't even happened to him in this timeline yet, he also blames himself for what Grima does in Lucina's bad future after possessing him. This is ultimately the reason why he's so willing to sacrifice himself in order to make sure Grima will never return to plague the world again at the end of the game, even if it means being erased from existence never seeing his friends and family again, and will beat himself up if he instead let's Chrom seal Grima away again.

Then of course, there's Chrom, or specifically, Robin's loyalty to him. As already mentioned, Chrom was the person who gave Robin a home and a purpose when he was just some random nobody with no memories, so Robin is eternally grateful to him for this and will do almost anything for him. He will literally die for him, really. And he also tends to worry about him a lot, much more so than his female counterpart, since nagging Chrom about his recklessness and naivete is basically the entirety of his support with him. He can be pretty idealistic himself, but he's more practical about it, with a "plan for the worst, hope for the best" sort of optimism and the way Chrom and his family tend to always think the best of people and are always willing to give trust where most people wouldn't simultaneously worries him and draws his admiration. He often feels rather unworthy of the amount of trust and friendship Chrom shows him, especially once he finds out the truth about his origins and about what happened in Lucina's dark future. A lot of his motivations not connected in some way to his amnesia come from a desire to prove himself worthy of Chrom's respect. Still he easily regards Chrom as his best friend.

There are actually a few personality differences between him and his female counterpart. For one thing, he doesn't really seem to have her temper and tends to engage in good-natured teasing of his friends a bit more than she does, except for with people who don't react well to teasing. He's also better at picking up social cues and usually seems a bit more intuitive about people than her, since, for example, he figured out Owain and Inigio are just putting on an act while the female Robin never quite seems to catch on to that (especially in Inigio's case) and he also has more tolerance for the other characters quirks in general than her, although this is sometimes to the point of coming off as a bit of a doormat in contrast to her running out of patience prematurely. So overall she's a bit more assertive than him. Despite that he also seems a bit better at persuading people to do things than she is (as shown in Gangrel's support, where Robin is the one to persuade him to stop moping around and be more productive while Gangrel comes to this conclusion on his own in female Robin's version), though she makes up for it with persistence (as shown in her version of Gerome's support, where she doesn't so much talk Gerome into being more social as bother him until he eventually gives in to her).

(It's kind of notable that it often seems like the writers wrote M!Robin's supports first and changed a few lines here and there in most of F!Robin's versions of them, so her personality in her unique supports is a bit inconsistent sometimes with the way she behaves in supports she shares with M!Robin, but that's not too important from a character analysis standpoint.)

Addressed to the Heroes of Light from Another Side Another Story who survived the Event:

Everyone,

How are you fairing? Have you settled in alright? I'm sorry I haven't been in contact for a while, I've been rather busy. The archives here in Aqures Ixen are quite extensive and I'm still trying to sort through most of the information to find what I need to know. And no, don't worry, I haven't forgotten to take breaks or to eat. Truly I haven't.

Truthfully I am only writing this to let you all know that I'm doing alright, and to check up on you as well. It hasn't been that long since that Incident occurred, and I know those of us who remain are all still rather shaken up about it. I think what truly bothers me is that we still don' have an answer as to why that happened.

Of course, in the absence of an answer to that question, I know all we can really do is soldier on and do what we can. It's my hope that the worst of it truly is over now.

Sincerely Yours,
Robin
